Indications

— symptomatic treatment of dyspepsia associated with increased gastric acidity and gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn, acid regurgitation, feeling of heaviness in the stomach after eating, including during pregnancy).

How to use

The medication is prescribed orally to adults and children over 12 years old at a dose of 10-20 ml after meals and before bedtime. The maximum daily dose is 80 ml.
Children aged 6-12 years are prescribed 5-10 ml after meals and before bedtime. The maximum daily dose is 40 ml.
No dose adjustment is required for elderly patients.

sodium alginate 500 mg
sodium bicarbonate 267 mg
calcium carbonate 160 mg
Excipients: carbomer, methylparaben, propylparaben, sodium saccharin, peppermint oil, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Oral suspension (mint) viscous, opaque, from almost white to cream color, with a mint scent.

Contraindications & warnings

- Children under 6 years of age;
- Increased sensitivity to the components of the drug.

Each 10 ml of suspension contains 141 mg (6.2 mmol) of sodium. This should be taken into account when following a low-sodium diet (in cases of congestive heart failure, in cases of kidney dysfunction).
If there is no improvement within 7 days, a consultation with a doctor is necessary.

Pharmacology

Antacid preparation. After oral administration, the drug quickly interacts with the acidic contents of the stomach. This results in the formation of an alginate gel that prevents the occurrence of gastroesophageal reflux. During regurgitation, the gel is more likely than the stomach contents to enter the esophagus, where it reduces irritation of the mucous membrane.

The mechanism of action of Gaviscon is not dependent on absorption into the systemic circulation.
