How to use

For the treatment of bacterial infections, instill 1 drop of the medication into the conjunctival sac 2-6 times a day. The duration of treatment is 10 days. The appropriateness and necessity of extending the treatment period beyond 10 days should be determined by a physician.
In the postoperative period, instill 1 drop 3-4 times a day.
For the prevention of postoperative complications (preoperative preparation), instill 1-2 drops of the medication into the conjunctival sac immediately before the surgical intervention.

Для лечения бактериальных инфекций закапывают по 1 капле препарата в конъюнктивальный мешок 2-6 раз в сутки. Продолжительность лечения составляет 10 дней. Целесообразность и необходимость продления срока лечения свыше 10 дней должна определяться врачом.
В послеоперационном периоде закапывают по 1 капле 3-4 раза в сутки.
Для профилактики послеоперационных осложнений (предоперационная подготовка) закапывают по 1-2 капли препарата в конъюнктивальный мешок непосредственно перед хирургическим вмешательством

Composition

Composition per 1 ml of the preparation:
active ingredient: picloxidine dihydrochloride* - 0.500 mg calculated as picloxidine - 0.434 mg;
excipients: dextrose - 50.000 mg, polysorbate 80 - 0.250 mg, purified water - up to 1.00 ml.
*An excess of 5% of picloxidine dihydrochloride is allowed during the production of the preparation.

Contraindications & warnings

Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the medication.

To prevent contamination of the solution during instillation, patients should avoid contact of the dropper tip with the eye and skin.
To prevent the medication from entering the systemic circulation through the nasal mucosa, it is recommended to press the inner corner of the eye with fingers for 2 minutes after instillation.
In case of using multiple local ophthalmic medications, the interval between instillations should be at least 15 minutes. BAKTAVIT eye drops should not be used for subconjunctival injections or for administration into the anterior chamber of the eye. BAKTAVIT eye drops do not change the color of contact lenses (including soft hydrophilic ones); however, wearing contact lenses is contraindicated in cases of infectious diseases.

Индивидуальная гиперчувствительность к компонентам препарата.

Для предотвращения загрязнения раствора препарата при закапывании пациентам следует избегать контакта кончика капельницы с глазом и кожей.
Для предотвращения попадания препарата в системный кровоток через слизистую оболочку носа, рекомендуется надавить пальцами на внутренний угол глаза на 2 минуты после закапывания.
В случае использования нескольких местных офтальмологических препаратов, перерыв между закапываниями должен составлять не менее 15 минут. Нельзя использовать глазные капли БАКТАВИТ для субконъюнктивальных инъекций или для введения в переднюю камеру глаза. Глазные капли БАКТАВИТ не изменяют цвет контактных линз (включая мягкие гидрофильные), однако при инфекционных заболеваниях ношение контактных линз противопоказано.

Allergic reactions may occur, manifested by conjunctival injection.

Data on overdose with the drug is not available.
In case of excessive contact with the eyes, rinse the eyes with sterile saline solution.

If multiple medications need to be instilled into the conjunctival sac, they should be administered separately with an interval of at least 15 minutes.

Pharmacology

Pikloxidine - a biguanide derivative, is an antimicrobial agent that exerts antiseptic action. It is active against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Eberthella typhosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Shigella dysenteriae, Bacillus subtilis, Chlamydia trachomatis; some viruses and fungi.

With local application, the systemic absorption of picloxidine is low.
