Indications

The chest elixir is indicated for use in adults and children from 0 years and older as an expectorant in infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by the formation of difficult-to-expectorate sputum (including tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis).

How to use

For oral use. Adults: 20 – 40 drops 3 – 4 times a day; children: administer as many drops as the child's age in years. Before use, the preparation should be diluted in a small amount of water.
Treatment course: 7 days.
Extension of the treatment duration and conducting repeated treatment courses is possible upon doctor's recommendation. If no improvement occurs after treatment, or if symptoms worsen, or new symptoms appear, it is necessary to consult a doctor. Take the preparation only according to the indications, method of use, and dosages specified in the instructions for use.

Composition

Composition per 100 ml:
Active ingredients: thick extract of licorice root (3-4:1) - 20.7 g,
oil of common anise fruit (anise oil) - 0.34 g,
concentrated aqueous ammonia 25% - 1.38 g (equivalent to ammonia content - 0.32 g).
Excipients: ethanol (ethyl alcohol) 90% - 20.41 ml, purified water - up to 100 ml.

Brown liquid with the smell of ammonia and anise oil. Precipitation may occur during storage.

Contraindications & warnings

Increased sensitivity to the components of the drug; bronchial asthma; gastritis; peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum during exacerbation; pregnancy; breastfeeding period.

With caution:
Liver diseases; alcoholism; traumatic brain injury; brain diseases; pediatric age; patients with a tendency to develop drug dependence; epilepsy.

Повышенная чувствительность к компонентам препарата, бронхиальная астма, гастрит, язвенная болезнь желудка и двенадцатиперстной кишки в период обострения, беременность, период грудного вскармливания.

С осторожностью
Заболевания печени, алкоголизм, черепно-мозговая травма, заболевания головного мозга; детский возраст, пациенты со склонностью к развитию лекарственной зависимости, эпилепсия.

В составе препарата содержится не менее 14% этилового спирта. Содержание абсолютного этилового спирта в 1 мл капле препарате составляет 0,005 г, в максимальной разовой дозе для взрослых – до 0,3 г, в максимальной суточной дозе – до 1,2 г.
При сохранении симптомов заболевания или ухудшении состояния на фоне применения
препарата в течение 7 дней, следует сообщить об этом лечащему врачу.

Side effects, overdose & interactions

Allergic reactions may occur; in some cases, diarrhea may be observed.
If any of the listed side effects worsen, or if you notice any other side effects not mentioned in the instructions, inform your doctor.

With prolonged use, exceeding the specified dosages, the following may occur:
hypokalemia;
increased blood pressure;
the appearance of peripheral edema due to disturbances in water-salt metabolism.
Treatment – symptomatic.

The chest elixir should not be used simultaneously with antitussive medications, as this complicates the expectoration of liquefied mucus. If necessary, the product can be used in combination with antibiotics and other medications.

If you are taking the above-mentioned or other medications (including over-the-counter ones), consult your doctor before using the product.

При длительном применении, с превышением указанных дозировок возможны
гипокалиемия, повышение артериального давления, появление периферических отеков
вследствие нарушения водно-солевого обмена.
Лечение – симптоматическое.

Грудной эликсир не следует применять одновременно с противокашлевыми
лекарственными средствами, так как это затрудняет откашливание разжиженной мокроты.
При необходимости препарат можно применять в сочетании с антибиотиками и другими
лекарственными средствами
Если Вы принимаете вышеперечисленные или другие лекарственные препараты (в том

Pharmacology

The expectorant effect of the chest elixir is due to the action of its components:

• Thick extract of licorice root has anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties, which are associated with the presence of glycyrrhizin in the roots, stimulating the activity of ciliated epithelium in the trachea and bronchi, as well as enhancing the secretory function of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract;

• Anise oil has an expectorant effect, attributed to the presence of anethole in the oil, which promotes reflex stimulation of respiration, increases the activity of ciliated epithelium in the respiratory tract, and enhances the secretion of mucous membranes in the larynx, trachea, and bronchi;

• Ammonia has an irritating effect, which leads to the excitation of sensory nerve endings in the upper respiratory tract and reflex stimulation of the respiratory center.

Отхаркивающий эффект грудного эликсира обусловлен действием входящих в него компонентов:

Chest Elixir is a medicinal product used as an expectorant for infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by the formation of difficult-to-separate sputum (including tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis).
The expectorant effect of the Chest Elixir is due to the action of its components:
- Thick licorice extract has anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties, which are associated with the content of glycyrrhizin in the roots, stimulating the activity of ciliated epithelium in the trachea and bronchi, as well as enhancing the secretory function of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract;
- Anise oil has an expectorant effect due to the presence of anethole in the oil, which promotes reflex stimulation of respiration, increases the activity of ciliated epithelium in the respiratory tract, and enhances the secretion of mucous membranes in the larynx, trachea, and bronchi;
- Ammonia has an irritating effect that leads to the stimulation of sensory nerve endings in the upper respiratory tract and reflex stimulation of the respiratory center.
Administer orally 3-4 times a day. Adults: 20-40 drops.
