Clinical data on the effects of simethicone during pregnancy are lacking.
Simethicone may be used during pregnancy only if the expected benefit of therapy for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus, considering that simethicone is physiologically inactive and not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract.
Data on the excretion of simethicone in breast milk are unavailable.

Pharmacology
Simethicone is a chemically inert polymer of methylsiloxane, containing about 5% silicon dioxide.
Simethicone has antifoaming and defoaming properties, significantly reducing the surface tension of purified water and model solutions of surfactants. Experimental results on foam suppression demonstrated complete foam destruction within 3-6 seconds upon the addition of a liquid suspension of simethicone at a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml. Below this threshold, complete foam destruction does not occur. As a defoamer, simethicone is also effective at a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml. This effect lasts for more than 24 hours.
The mechanism of action is based on the spreading of the silicone liquid over the surface of the foam film, as well as on the local alteration of surface tension at the contact area. Thus, rapid drainage of liquid occurs, which contributes to the rupture of the film, allowing the released gas to be absorbed or expelled naturally.
Simethicone is a chemically inert substance that has no physiological activity; it is not absorbed, passes through the digestive tract, and is excreted unchanged.

Симетикон - химически инертный полимер метилсилоксана, содержащий около 5% диоксида кремния.
Симетикон обладает пеногасящими и противовспенивающими свойствами, значительно уменьшает поверхностное натяжение воды очищенной и модельных растворов поверхностно-активных веществ. Результаты экспериментов по пеногашению продемонстрировали полное разрушение пены в течение 3-6 секунд при добавлении жидкой суспензии симетикона в концентрации 0,1 мг/мл. Ниже этого порога полного разрушения пены не происходит. В качестве пеногасителя симетикон также эффективен в концентрации 0,1 мг/мл. Этот эффект длится более 24 часов.
Механизм действия основан на распространении силиконовой жидкости по поверхности пленки пены, а также на локальном изменении поверхностного натяжения в области контакта. Таким образом, происходит быстрый дренаж жидкости, что способствует разрыву пленки, в следствие чего высвобождающийся газ получает возможность всасываться или выводиться естественным путем.
Симетикон - это химически инертная субстанция, не обладающая физиологической активностью, она не всасывается, проходит через пищеварительный тракт и выводится в неизменном виде.
