Indications

Exhibits anti-alcohol action, reducing the craving for alcohol and decreasing the likelihood of relapses. Monotherapy for mild to moderate alcohol withdrawal syndrome. The drug alleviates both psychopathological disorders (anxiety, mental tension, insomnia, irritability, apprehension, low mood, intense craving for alcohol) and somatovegetative disorders (weakness, sweating, headache, tremor, tachycardia, digestive disturbances) of alcohol "hangover" syndrome.

Method of Use and Dosage

For a single dose - hold 1 tablet in the mouth until completely dissolved - (not during meals).

In a state of hangover, the first 2 hours the medication is taken at 1 tablet every 30 minutes; for the next 8-10 hours - 1 tablet per hour.

If sleep occurs, the intake is resumed after waking up.

Subsequently, as the condition improves, the medication is taken at 1 tablet every 2-3 hours (4-6 tablets per day) for 2-3 days.

At the doctor's discretion, the medication may be used in combination therapy: if the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal worsen, it is necessary to add medications traditionally used in detoxification.

To prevent relapses, the medication is taken at 2 tablets per day for 6 months; after accidental alcohol consumption, take an additional 2 tablets of the medication 2 times - during the day and at night.

Tablets of a flat-cylindrical shape, with a score and a bevel, from white to almost white in color. The flat side with the score is inscribed with the text MATERIA MEDICA, while the other flat side is inscribed with the text PROPROTEN 100.

Contraindications

Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug; pregnancy and breastfeeding; age under 18; lactase deficiency, lactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

The drug Proproten-100 is contraindicated for use in women during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Section: Special Instructions

The preparation contains lactose monohydrate, therefore it is not recommended for patients with congenital galactosemia, glucose malabsorption syndrome, or congenital lactase deficiency.

Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery
During the treatment of alcohol withdrawal syndrome, considering the specifics of the disease, it is advisable to refrain from driving motor vehicles.

Overdose

In case of accidental overdose, dyspeptic phenomena may occur due to the excipients contained in the preparation.

Interaction

The drug modifies the functional activity of the S-100 protein, which facilitates the coupling of informational and metabolic processes in the brain. It sensitizes the neuronal membrane and modulates the synaptic plasticity of neurons. It exerts a modifying effect on the functional state of brain structures involved in the formation of alcohol dependence: the hypothalamus, hippocampus, and others.
In cases of alcohol dependence, it has a normalizing effect on the positive emotional reinforcement system, leading to a reduction in the frequency of self-stimulation of the lateral hypothalamus. It decreases the pacemaker activity of hippocampal neurons; reduces the number of circulating immune complexes in peripheral blood, which correlates with a decrease in ethanol consumption. It promotes the enhancement of inhibitory effects of GABA in the CNS. Experimental studies have established that the drug restores neurotransmitter balance and conditioned reflex activity. It increases the brain's resistance to hypoxic effects.

Pharmacokinetics

The sensitivity of modern physicochemical analysis methods (gas-liquid chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, chromatographic mass spectrometry) does not allow for the assessment of the content of active components of the drug Proproten-100 in biological fluids, organs, and tissues, which makes it technically impossible to study pharmacokinetics.
