How to use

Instill 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac 6-8 times a day (every 2-3 hours). The treatment course is 7-10 days. The number of instillations may be reduced as the condition improves. When treating eye diseases caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, the dosing regimen is 1 drop every 2 hours; local application of sulfanilamide should be combined with systemic therapy.

Instructions for using the dropper tube:

1. Separate one dropper tube, placing the others back in the packaging.
2. Open the dropper tube (ensuring the solution is at the bottom of the dropper tube, twist and detach the cap).
3. Instill the required amount of the medication into the eyes.
4. Close the dropper tube with the cap.

Instructions for using the bottle:

1. Twist the bottle counterclockwise to open and remove the cap.
2. Carefully, without touching the tip of the bottle with your fingers, turn the bottle upside down, holding it between the thumb and index finger of one hand.
3. Tilt your head back, position the tip of the bottle above the eye, and with the index finger of the other hand, pull down the lower eyelid. Gently squeeze the bottle and instill the required amount of the medication into the conjunctival sac of the eye. Avoid contact of the open bottle tip with the surface of the eye and hands.
4. After use, replace the cap on the bottle and close it by twisting clockwise.

After opening, the medication can be used for 1 month. After this period, the medication should be discarded. Do not use the medication if the bottle is visibly damaged.

По 1-2 капли в конъюнктивальный мешок 6-8 раз в день (каждые 2-3 ч). Курс лечения
7-10 дней. Количество инстилляций может быть уменьшено по мере улучшения состояния. При проведении терапии заболеваний органа зрения, вызванных Chlamydia trachomatis, режим дозирования - по 1 капле каждые 2 часа, местное применение сульфаниламида необходимо сочетать с системной терапией.
Порядок работы с тюбик-капельницей:

1. Отделить одну тюбик-капельницу, остальные поместить обратно в упаковку.
2. Вскрыть тюбик-капельницу (убедившись, что раствор находится в нижней части тюбик-капельницы, вращающими движениями повернуть и отделить клапан).
3. Закапать необходимое количество препарата в глаза.
4. Закрыть тюбик-капельницу клапаном.
Порядок работы с флаконом:

1. Вращающими движениями против часовой стрелки открыть флакон и снять колпачок.
2. Осторожно, не касаясь пальцами наконечника флакона, перевернуть флакон, зафикси-ровать между большим и указательным пальцами одной руки.
3. Запрокинуть голову назад, расположить наконечник флакона над глазом и указатель-ным пальцем другой руки оттянуть нижнее веко вниз. Слегка надавить на флакон и зака-пать необходимое количество препарата в конъюнктивальный мешок глаза.
Необходимо избегать контактов наконечника открытого флакона с поверхностью глаза и руками.
4. После использования надеть колпачок на флакон и закрыть вращающими движениями по часовой стрелке.
После вскрытия флакона препарат можно использовать в течение 1 месяца. По истечении этого срока препарат следует выбросить.
При видимых повреждениях флакона применять препарат не следует.

Contraindications & warnings

Individual increased sensitivity to the components of the drug; pediatric age (up to 2 months).

Patients with increased sensitivity to furosemide, thiazide diuretics, sulfonylurea derivatives, or carbonic anhydrase inhibitors may have increased sensitivity to sulfacetamide.
Excessive growth of microorganisms resistant to sulfanilamide, as well as fungal flora, is possible.
Reduced antibacterial activity of sulfanilamides in the presence of high concentrations of PABA with a large amount of purulent discharge.
Therapy should be discontinued in case of allergy symptoms, as well as in the event of increased pain and other signs of an infectious process, or an increase in purulent discharge.

Индивидуальная повышенная чувствительность к компонентам препарата, детский возраст (до 2 месяцев).

Пациенты, обладающие повышенной чувствительностью к фуросемиду, тиазидным диуретикам, производным сульфонилмочевины или ингибиторам карбоангидразы могут иметь повышенную чувствительность к сульфацетамиду.
Возможен чрезмерный рост микроорганизмов, нечувствительных к сульфаниламиду, а также грибковой флоры.
Снижение антибактериальной активности сульфаниламидов в присутствии высоких концентраций ПАБК при наличии большого количества гнойного отделяемого.
Необходимо прекратить терапию в случае появления симптомов аллергии, а также при усилении боли и других признаков инфекционного процесса, увеличении гнойного отделяемого.

Side effects, overdose & interactions

Adverse reactions are classified by system-organ classes according to MedDRA.
Disorders of the immune system: allergic reactions, development of superinfection, severe allergic reactions to sulfonamides (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, fulminant liver necrosis, agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia).
Disorders of the eye: transient blurred vision after instillation, nonspecific conjunctivitis, burning, tearing, stinging, itching in the eyes.

Data on drug overdose is not available.

Sulfacetamide enhances the effect of indirect anticoagulants. Co-administration with benzocaine, procaine, and tetracaine reduces the bacteriostatic effect of sulfacetamide. Incompatibility of sulfacetamide is observed when used in conjunction with silver salts. Simultaneous administration with chloramphenicol increases the risk of side effects from the latter. Diphenylhydantoin, para-aminosalicylic acid, and salicylates increase the toxicity of sulfacetamide.

Нарушения со стороны иммунной системы: аллергические реакции, развитие суперинфекции, тяжелые аллергические реакции на сульфаниламиды (синдром Стивенса-Джонсона, токсический эпидермолиз, молниеносный некроз печени, агранулоцитоз, апластическая анемия).
Нарушения со стороны органа зрения: преходящее затуманивание зрения после инстилляции, неспецифический конъюнктивит, жжение, слезотечение, резь, зуд в глазах.

Данные по передозировке препарата отсутствуют.

Сульфацетамид усиливает эффект антикоагулянтов непрямого действия. Совместное применение с бензокаином, прокаином и тетракаином снижает бактериостатический эффект сульфацетамида. Наблюдается несовместимость сульфацетамида при его совместном применении с солями серебра. Одновременное назначение с хлорамфениколом увеличивает риск побочного действия последнего. Дифенин, парааминосалициловая кислота, салицилаты усиливают токсичность сульфацетамида.

Pharmacology

Antimicrobial bacteriostatic agent, sulfanilamide. The mechanism of action is associated with competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and inhibition of dihydropteroate synthase, leading to disruption of dihydrofolate acid synthesis and, ultimately, its active metabolite tetrahydrofolate, which is necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines.
Active against gram-positive and gram-negative cocci, Escherichia coli, Shigella spp., Vibrio cholerae, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Yersinia pestis, Chlamydia spp., Actinomyces israelii, Toxoplasma gondii.
Resistance to sulfacetamide may develop.

It penetrates the eye tissues, where it exerts its specific antibacterial effect. It acts predominantly locally, but a portion of the drug is absorbed through the inflamed conjunctiva and enters the systemic bloodstream. The amount of the drug that enters the systemic circulation is insufficient to develop a systemic therapeutic effect, but it is enough to cause sensitization upon repeated administration.
When applied locally, the maximum concentration (Cmax) of sulfanilamides in the cornea (approximately 3 mg/ml), aqueous humor (approximately 0.5 mg/ml), and iris (approximately 0.1 mg/ml) is reached within the first 30 minutes after application. A small amount (less than 0.5 mg/ml) remains in the eye tissues for 3-4 hours. In cases of corneal epithelial damage, the penetration of sulfanilamides is enhanced.
Sulfacetamide is metabolized in the liver through N-acetylation, and the metabolites possess antibacterial activity.
Excretion occurs in the kidneys via glomerular filtration.

0,1 мг/мл) достигается за первые 30 мин после аппликации. Некоторое количество (менее 0,5 мг/мл) сохраняется в тканях глазного яблока в течение 3-4 ч. При повреждении эпителия роговицы пенетрация сульфаниламидов усиливается.
Сульфацетамид метаболизируется в печени путем N-ацетилирования, метаболиты обладают антибактериальной активностью.
Экскреция происходит в почках путем клубочковой фильтрации.

Sodium sulfacetamide-Solopharm 20% eye drops in a dropper bottle is a broad-spectrum sulfonamide antimicrobial agent. It has a bacteriostatic effect.
