Indications

The drug is recommended for use in adults for the symptomatic treatment of acute respiratory diseases and "cold" illnesses (as part of combination therapy). The drug should be taken at the onset of cold symptoms.

Pharmacology

The action of this complex preparation is determined by its components. Methenamine belongs to the class of antiseptics and disinfectants, specifically the aldehyde group. Its action is based on the ability of the preparation to decompose in an acidic environment, resulting in the formation of formaldehyde, which possesses antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties in this case.
The complex salt of methenamine is present to replenish the deficiency of calcium ions, to reduce the permeability of cell membranes and vascular walls, and to prevent the development of inflammatory reactions.

Methenamine is rapidly and completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The bioavailability of methenamine is 30-60%. Methenamine is almost not bound to plasma proteins. Through tubular secretion and glomerular filtration, methenamine enters the urine. The maximum concentration of methenamine in urine is observed after 2 hours. The half-life is 4.3 hours, and it is excreted by the kidneys, with 90% of the administered dose eliminated within 24 hours.

Действие этого комплексного препарата обусловлено его составляющими. Метенамин относится к классу антисептиков и дезинфицирующих средств, к группе альдегидов. Действие основано на способности препарата разлагаться в кислой среде с образованием формальдегида, который обладает в данном случае антисептическим и противовоспали-тельным свойствами.
Комплексная соль метенамина присутствует для восполнения дефицита ионов кальция, для уменьшения проницаемости клеточных мембран и сосудистой стенки, предотвращает развитие воспалительных реакций

Метенамин быстро и полностью всасывается из желудочно-кишечного тракта. Биодоступность метенамина составляет 30-60 %. Метенамин почти не связывается с плазменными белками. Посредством канальцевой секреции и клубочковой фильтрации метенамин попадает в мочу. В моче максимальная концентрация метенамина отмечается через 2 часа. Период полувыведения составляет 4,3 часа, выводится почками, в течение суток выводится 90 % введенной дозы
