Canison 1% solution for external use 20 ml

Canizon® 1% solution is used for the treatment of fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by dermatophytes, mold, and yeast-like fungi.
Canizon® 1% solution has shown efficacy for topical use in the following skin infections:

• epidermophytosis of the feet;

• inguinal epidermophytosis;

• paronychia;

• dermatomycosis of smooth skin, skin folds, beard, mustache, scalp, caused by Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis.

• onychomycosis;

• tinea versicolor and erythrasma;

• trichophytosis;

• mycoses complicated by secondary infection.

Canizon® 1% solution is for external use only in adults and children.
A small amount of the solution is applied in a thin layer to the affected and surrounding areas of the skin twice a day (morning and evening) and is thoroughly rubbed in. After the acute symptoms of the disease have resolved, treatment should continue for at least another 4 weeks.
In cases of tinea pedis, the product should be used for an additional 2 weeks after all symptoms of the disease have resolved. It is recommended to apply the solution after each washing of the feet.

Each ml of the solution contains:
active ingredient: clotrimazole 10 mg
excipients: propylene glycol, sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, phosphoric acid.

Clear, almost colorless liquid

Increased sensitivity to clotrimazole and to the excipients of the preparation.
First trimester of pregnancy.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
The use of the preparation is not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy.
Clinical and experimental studies have not established that the use of clotrimazole during pregnancy has a negative impact on the health of the woman and the fetus. However, the appropriateness of prescribing Canizon 1% solution for external use in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy should be decided on an individual basis, after consulting a doctor. The possibility of excretion of clotrimazole in breast milk has not been studied. Therefore, Canizon 1% solution should be used with caution in breastfeeding mothers. Application of the solution directly to the lactating breast is not recommended.

If there is no clinical improvement observed within 4 weeks of starting treatment, microbiological testing should be conducted to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other causes of the disease.
If increased sensitivity or irritation occurs during the use of the product, treatment should be discontinued and an alternative therapy should be selected. Application of the product to the skin in the area of the eyes is not recommended.

Allergic reactions: in rare cases - urticaria, edema, rash, erythema. Local reactions: burning, itching, irritation at the site of application of the drug.

The use of the drug in increased doses does not cause any reactions or conditions that are life-threatening.
In the case of unintended use of the drug (orally), the following symptoms may occur: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, liver dysfunction; rarely - drowsiness, hallucinations, pollakiuria, skin allergic reactions.
There is no specific antidote. Activated charcoal should be administered orally. Symptomatic treatment may be necessary.

Canison reduces the effectiveness of polyene antibiotics (amphotericin, nystatin, natamycin, etc.).
Propyl paraben at high concentrations enhances the antifungal action of clotrimazole.
Dexamethasone in high doses inhibits the antifungal action of clotrimazole.

Clotrimazole is an antifungal agent from the imidazole derivatives group for external use. The antifungal effect is associated with the disruption of ergosterol synthesis and the fungal cell membrane. It has a broad spectrum of action. The fungistatic or fungicidal activity depends on the species of microbial strains.
The drug is effective against yeast-like fungi, primarily Candida albicans, all species of dermatophytes (Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp., Epidermophyton spp.), and mold fungi (Aspergillus spp.).
It is active against gram-positive bacteria (streptococci and staphylococci) and gram-negative bacteria.

The solution has a high penetrating ability into various layers of the skin and accumulates in the stratum corneum of the epidermis. When applied to nails, it is found in keratin. With external use, clotrimazole is practically not absorbed into the systemic bloodstream through the skin, and is absorbed to a small extent from mucous membranes; the concentrations of the drug in the lower layers of the epidermis significantly increase the minimum inhibitory concentrations of clotrimazole established in vitro for dermatophytes.
