Chlorhexidine 16 mg 10 pcs vaginal suppositories

Prevention of sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, ureaplasmosis, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital herpes, etc.).
Prevention of infectious-inflammatory complications in obstetrics and gynecology (before surgical treatment of gynecological diseases, before childbirth and abortions, before and after the insertion of an intrauterine device (IUD), before and after diathermocoagulation of the cervix, before intrauterine examinations).
Treatment of bacterial vaginosis, colpitis (including nonspecific, mixed, trichomonadal).

Intravaginally. Before use, remove the suppository from the blister pack.
For treatment: 1 suppository twice a day for 7-10 days.
For the prevention of sexually transmitted infections: 1 suppository no later than 2 hours after unprotected sexual intercourse.

Active ingredient: Chlorhexidine bigluconate solution 20% (calculated as chlorhexidine bigluconate – 16 mg) – 85.2 mg
Excipients: Macrogol 1500 (polyethylene glycol 1500) – 2533.3 mg; Macrogol 400 (polyethylene glycol 400) – 225.2 mg; Macrogol 4000 (polyethylene glycol 4000) – 56.3 mg.
Mass of the suppository – 2.9 g

Suppositories of white or white with a yellowish tint, torpedo-shaped. Marbling of the surface is permissible.

Increased sensitivity to chlorhexidine, other components of the medication.

If unpleasant sensations occur after the administration of the suppository (itching, burning), the use of the product should be discontinued. The use of the product may lead to an increase in vaginal discharge. Generally, if there is a small amount of clear discharge, treatment with the product can continue. If bloody discharge occurs, it is recommended to discontinue use of the product and consult a doctor. After contact with the product, hands should be washed to avoid the possible entry of chlorhexidine into the eyes.

Concurrent use with iodine is not recommended.
Chlorhexidine is incompatible with detergents containing an anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose) and soaps when administered intravaginally. Hygiene of the external genitalia does not affect the efficacy and tolerability of the suppositories, as the drug is used intravaginally.

Chlorhexidine is a topical antiseptic agent, active against protozoa, gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and viruses, including: Treponema pallidum, Chlamydia spp., Ureaplasma spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides fragilis, Herpes virus. Some strains of Pseudomonas spp. and Proteus spp. are weakly sensitive to the drug, as well as acid-resistant forms of bacteria, bacterial spores, and fungi. Chlorhexidine does not disrupt the functional activity of lactobacilli. It retains activity (although somewhat reduced) in the presence of blood and pus.

When used intravaginally, it is practically not absorbed and does not have a systemic effect.
