Kagocel 12 mg 10 tablets

The drug Kagocel is used in adults and children aged 3 years and older as a preventive and therapeutic agent for influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), as well as a therapeutic agent for herpes in adults.

Orally, regardless of food intake.
For the treatment of influenza and ARVI in adults, the recommended dosage is 2 tablets 3 times a day for the first two days, followed by 1 tablet 3 times a day for the next two days. Total course: 18 tablets; duration of the course: 4 days.
For the prevention of influenza and ARVI in adults, 7-day cycles are recommended: for two days, take 2 tablets once a day, followed by a 5-day break, then repeat the cycle. Duration of the preventive course: from one week to several months.
For the treatment of herpes in adults, the dosage is 2 tablets 3 times a day for 5 days. Total course: 30 tablets; duration of the course: 5 days.
For the treatment of influenza and ARVI in children aged 3 to 6 years, the recommended dosage is 1 tablet 2 times a day for the first two days, followed by 1 tablet once a day for the next two days. Total course: 6 tablets; duration of the course: 4 days.
For the treatment of influenza and ARVI in children aged 6 years and older, the recommended dosage is 1 tablet 3 times a day for the first two days, followed by 1 tablet 2 times a day for the next two days. Total course: 10 tablets; duration of the course: 4 days.
For the prevention of influenza and ARVI in children aged 3 years and older, 7-day cycles are recommended: for two days, take 1 tablet once a day, followed by a 5-day break, then repeat the cycle. Duration of the preventive course: from one week to several months.

Composition per 1 tablet:
Active ingredient: Kagocel (calculated as dry substance) - 12 mg.
Excipients: potato starch - 10 mg, calcium stearate - 0.65 mg, Ludipress (composition: lactose monohydrate - from 91% to 95%, povidone (Kollidon 30) - from 3.0% to 4.0%, crospovidone (Kollidon CL) - from 3.0% to 4.0%) - to obtain a tablet weighing 100 mg.

Tablets of white with a brownish tint to light brown color, round, biconvex with brown speckles.

After 24 hours of administration, Kagocel accumulates primarily in the liver, to a lesser extent in the lungs, thymus, spleen, kidneys, and lymph nodes. Low concentrations are noted in adipose tissue, heart, muscles, testes, brain, and plasma. The low content of Kagocel in the brain is explained by the high molecular weight of the drug, which hinders its penetration through the blood-brain barrier. In plasma, the drug is predominantly in a bound form.

With daily multiple administrations of Kagocel, the volume of distribution varies widely across all studied organs. The accumulation of the drug is particularly pronounced in the spleen and lymph nodes. When taken orally, approximately 20% of the administered dose enters the systemic circulation. The absorbed drug circulates in the blood mainly in a form bound to macromolecules: with lipids - 47%, with proteins - 37%. The unbound portion of the drug constitutes about 16%.

Excretion: the drug is primarily eliminated from the body through the intestines: 88% of the administered dose is excreted within 7 days, including 90% through the intestines and 10% through the kidneys. The drug is not detected in exhaled air.
