Pharmacology
Fish oil is a mixture of various substances, the main ones being oleic acid (a class of omega-9 unsaturated fatty acids, comprising 70%), palmitic saturated fatty acid (25%), polyunsaturated fatty acids Omega-3 (alpha-linolenic, eicosapentaenoic, and docosahexaenoic acids) and Omega-6 (linoleic and arachidonic acids), vitamins A and D.
The most valuable among them are polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) of the Omega-3 group. They are essential for the active functioning of the brain and nervous system (nerve impulse conduction), positively affect heart function, reduce inflammatory processes in the body, and improve the condition of skin and nails. Additionally, Omega-3s contribute to increased immunity and help alleviate symptoms of allergic reactions.
PUFAs are virtually not synthesized in the human body, so they must be obtained from food or additional dietary sources (dietary supplements).
Vitamin A promotes active growth and regeneration of skin cells, mucous membranes, and visual pigments. It also participates in the processes of bone tissue and dental enamel formation.
Vitamin D is necessary for the prevention of rickets and is a prerequisite for the proper absorption of calcium and phosphorus, growth of bones and teeth in children, and functioning of the nervous system.
