Indications

Acute and chronic respiratory diseases accompanied by cough and the production of thick, difficult-to-expectorate sputum (including tracheobronchitis, obstructive bronchitis, bronchiectasis, pneumonia) - as part of combination therapy

Method of administration and doses

For adults and children over 12 years, take 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day before meals.
The course of treatment is on average 7-14 days.
For children, the tablet can be dissolved in 1/3 cup of warm water.

Composition

Composition per tablet:
active ingredient: extract of marshmallow root (mucaltin) - 50.0 mg;
excipients: tartaric acid - 43.25 mg, calcium phosphate dibasic anhydrous (anhydrous calcium hydrogen phosphate) - 179.75 mg, crospovidone (crospovidone CL-M) - 21.0 mg, povidone (low molecular weight medical polyvinylpyrrolidone, povidone K 17) - 3.0 mg, calcium stearate - 3.0 mg.

Round flat-cylindrical tablets from light gray to brownish-gray in color with specks of lighter and darker colors, with a specific odor, with a bevel and a score.

Contraindications

Increased sensitivity to the components of the drug, peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum, age under 12 years.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
The use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding is possible on the recommendation of a doctor.

Special instructions

Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery
The drug does not affect the ability to perform potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration and quick psychomotor reactions (including driving vehicles, working with moving machinery).

Interaction

Mukaltin can be prescribed simultaneously with other medications used in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases. Mukaltin should not be used simultaneously with medications containing codeine and other antitussive drugs, as this makes it difficult to cough up the liquefied mucus.

Mucaltin is a mixture of polysaccharides from the herb marshmallow, possessing expectorant properties. Due to reflex stimulation, it enhances the activity of the ciliated epithelium and the peristalsis of the respiratory bronchioles, combined with an increase in the secretion of bronchial glands.
