Acute bacterial diarrhea occurring without deterioration of general condition, fever, or intoxication.

How to use

Take orally. Swallow the capsule whole with a small amount of water.
Children aged 3 to 6 years: 200 mg (2 capsules of 100 mg or 1 capsule of 200 mg) 3 times a day (interval between doses 8 hours).
Children aged 6 to 18 years: 200 mg (2 capsules of 100 mg or 1 capsule of 200 mg) 3-4 times a day (interval between doses 6-8 hours).
Adults: 200 mg (2 capsules of 100 mg or 1 capsule of 200 mg) 4 times a day (interval between doses 6 hours).
Duration of treatment: 5-7 days, but no more than 7 days.
If no improvement occurs within the first 3 days of taking the medication, consult a doctor. Use the medication only as directed and in the doses specified in the instructions.
If necessary, please consult a doctor before using the medication.

Принимать внутрь. Капсулу следует проглатывать целиком, запивая небольшим количеством воды.
Детям от 3до 6 лет: 200 мг (2 капсулы по 100 мг или 1 капсула 200 мг) 3 раза в сутки (интервал между приемами 8 ч).
Детям от 6 до 18 лет: 200 мг (2 капсулы по 100 мг или 1 капсула 200 мг) 3-4 раза в сутки (интервал между приемами 6-8 ч).

Продолжительность курса лечения: 5-7 дней, но не более 7 дней.

Composition

One capsule contains:
Active ingredient: nifuroxazide - 200 mg;
Excipients: sucrose - 71.0 mg; corn starch - 68.0 mg; microcrystalline cellulose (type 102) - 9.0 mg; magnesium stearate - 2.0 mg.
Composition of capsule No. 0 (body and cap): titanium dioxide, quinoline yellow dye, sunset yellow dye, gelatin.

Hard gelatin capsules No. 0 with a yellow body and cap. The contents of the capsules are a mixture of yellow powder and granules.

Contraindications & warnings

• Increased sensitivity to nifuroxazide, nitrofuran derivatives, or other components of the medication.
• Pregnancy.
• Age under 3 years.
• Fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, or sucrase/isomaltase deficiency.

When treating diarrhea, rehydration therapy must be conducted simultaneously with nifuroxazide therapy.
Alcohol consumption during nifuroxazide therapy is prohibited due to the potential development of disulfiram-like reactions (see the section "Interactions with other medicinal products").
In cases of bacterial diarrhea with signs of systemic involvement (deterioration of general condition, fever, symptoms of intoxication or infection), a physician should be consulted regarding the use of systemic antibacterial agents.
If symptoms of hypersensitivity occur (shortness of breath, skin rash, skin itching), the use of the medication should be discontinued.
One single dose of Nifuroxazide (2 capsules of 100 mg) contains 72 mg of sucrose, which corresponds to 0.0072 Bread Units (BU). The maximum daily dose (8 capsules of 100 mg) contains 288 mg of sucrose, which corresponds to 0.0288 BU (1 BU = 10 g of carbohydrates).
One single dose of Nifuroxazide (1 capsule of 200 mg) contains 71 mg of sucrose, which corresponds to 0.0071 Bread Units (BU). The maximum daily dose (4 capsules of 200 mg) contains 284 mg of sucrose, which corresponds to 0.0284 BU (1 BU = 10 g of carbohydrates).

• Повышенная чувствительность к нифуроксазиду, производным нитрофурана или другим компонентам препарата.
• Беременность.
• Детский возраст до 3 лет.
• Непереносимость фруктозы, синдром глюкозо-галактозной мальабсорбции или недостаточность сахаразы/изомальтазы.

При лечении диареи одновременно с терапией нифуроксазидом необходимо проводить регидратационную терапию.
Употребление алкоголя во время терапии нифуроксазидом запрещено ввиду возможного развития дисульфирамоподобных реакций (см. раздел «Взаимодействие с другими лекарственными средствами»).
В случае бактериальной диареи с признаками системного поражения (ухудшение общего состояния, повышение температуры тела, симптомы интоксикации или инфекции) следует обратиться к врачу для решения вопроса о применении антибактериальных препаратов системного действия.
При появлении симптомов гиперчувствительности (одышка, кожная сыпь, кожный зуд) следует прекратить прием препарата.

Side effects, overdose & interactions

Allergic reactions (skin rash, urticaria, Quincke's edema, anaphylactic shock). If any of the side effects listed in the instructions worsen, or if the patient notices any other side effects not mentioned in the instructions, they should inform their doctor.

Symptoms of overdose are unknown. Treatment is symptomatic.

Concurrent use with medications that cause disulfiram-like reactions (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, tachycardia, blurred vision, weakness, seizures) is not recommended, as well as with medications that depress central nervous system function.
If you are taking other medications (including over-the-counter) before using Nifuroxazide, consult your doctor.

Аллергические реакции (кожная сыпь, крапивница, отек Квинке, анафилактический шок). Если любые из указанных в инструкции побочных эффектов усугубляются, или пациент заметил любые другие побочные эффекты, не указанные в инструкции, следует сообщить об этом врачу.

Симптомы передозировки не известны. Лечение симптоматическое.

Не рекомендуется одновременное применение с препаратами, вызывающими развитие дисульфирамоподобных реакций (боль в животе, тошнота, рвота, головная боль, тахикардия, нечеткость зрения, слабость, судороги), а также лекарственными
препаратами, угнетающими функцию центральной нервной системы.

Pharmacology

Nifuroxazide is an antimicrobial agent, a derivative of nitrofuran. It blocks the activity of dehydrogenases and inhibits respiratory chains, the tricarboxylic acid cycle, and a number of other processes in the microbial cell. It disrupts the microbial cell membrane and reduces the production of toxins by microorganisms.
Highly active against Campylobacter jejuni, Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Clostridium perfringens, Vibrio cholerae, pathogenic Vibrions, and Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Staphylococcus spp.
Weakly sensitive to nifuroxazide: Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter cloacae, and Proteus indologenes.
Resistant to nifuroxazide: Klebsiella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Providencia spp., and Pseudomonas spp.
Does not disrupt the balance of intestinal microflora. In cases of acute bacterial diarrhea, it restores intestinal eubiosis. In infections caused by enterotropic viruses, it prevents the development of bacterial superinfection.

After oral administration, nifuroxazide is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and exerts its antibacterial action exclusively in the intestinal lumen. Nifuroxazide is eliminated by the intestines: 20% in unchanged form, while the remaining portion is chemically modified.
