As part of the complex therapy for influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) in children aged 1 year and older. For the treatment of herpes infections (Herpes simplex types 1 and 2) of the skin and mucous membranes of various locations.

To apply the ointment, use a cotton swab as an applicator. For the treatment of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), apply a thin layer of the ointment to the mucous membrane of the nasal passages: for children aged 1 to 2 years, a strip of ointment no longer than 0.5 cm (approximately 2500 IU) 3 times a day; for children aged 2 to 12 years, a strip of ointment no longer than 0.5 cm (approximately 2500 IU) 4 times a day; for children aged 12 to 18 years, a strip of ointment no longer than 1 cm (approximately 5000 IU) 4 times a day. After applying the ointment, it is necessary to massage the wings of the nose to ensure even distribution of the medication on the mucous membrane of the nasal passages. The duration of treatment is 5 days.
In the case of herpes infection, apply a thin layer of the ointment to the affected areas 3-4 times a day, with a treatment duration of 5-7 days. It is recommended to start treatment immediately upon the first signs of skin and mucous membrane lesions (itching, burning, redness). When treating recurrent herpes, it is advisable to begin treatment during the prodromal period or at the very onset of recurrence signs.

Composition per 1 g of ointment:
Active ingredient: interferon alpha-2b 40,000 IU;
Excipients: alpha-tocopherol acetate, anhydrous lanolin, petroleum jelly, peach oil, calcium pantothenate, sodium benzoate, human albumin, sodium acetate trihydrate, sodium chloride, disodium edetate dihydrate, purified water.

Ointment from white-yellow to yellow in color, with a characteristic lanolin odor.

Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

In most cases, the drug VIFERON®, ointment for external and local use, is well tolerated. When applied to the nasal mucosa, side effects (rhinorrhea, sneezing, burning of the nasal mucosa) are mild and transient, resolving on their own after discontinuation of the drug.

The ointment is effective in the treatment of viral infections, including ARVI, herpes, papillomas, and other diseases, as well as in the prevention of immunodeficiency states. It is recommended to apply the ointment to the skin or mucous membranes according to the physician's instructions. The ointment has a minimal number of side effects and contraindications.
