Place 2 filter bags in a glass or enamel container, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water, cover with a lid, and steep for 15 minutes. Squeeze the filter bags. Adjust the volume of the resulting infusion to 100 ml with boiled water. Take 1/2 cup orally in the evening after meals. The treatment course is 2-3 weeks. It is recommended to shake the infusion before use.

Prolonged use of senna preparations may lead to dependence; therefore, it is advisable to alternate them with other laxatives.

Possible allergic reactions, abdominal pain, flatulence, diarrhea. With prolonged use - colitis.

Symptoms: diarrhea, disruption of water-electrolyte balance. Treatment is symptomatic.

Senna preparations reduce the absorption of tetracycline.

Senna leaves contain anthraquinone derivatives, flavonoids, resinous substances, and mucilage. The anthraquinone derivatives are predominantly glycosides: glucolaloemodin, glucorhein. Sennosides A and B (glycosides of dihydroanthrone) are present. Free glycogen is also contained.

An infusion of senna leaves exerts a laxative effect. The therapeutic effect develops 8-12 hours after taking the medication.
