Troxerutin 2% gel for external use 100 g

The medicinal product Troxerutin is indicated for use in adults over 18 years of age for:
• varicose veins;
• chronic venous insufficiency with manifestations such as swelling, pain, a feeling of heaviness in the legs;
• superficial thrombophlebitis, periphlebitis, phlebothrombosis;
• post-thrombotic syndrome;
• post-traumatic edema, hematomas;
• prevention of complications after venous surgeries.

The gel is for external use.
The gel is applied in the morning and evening to the affected area using gentle upward massaging movements until fully absorbed into the skin.
If necessary, the gel can be applied under an occlusive dressing.
The dosage of the medication depends on the area of the damaged surface but should not exceed 3-4 cm of gel (1.5-2 g). If for any reason the use of the medication is missed, the patient may apply it at any time, maintaining an interval of at least 10-12 hours between treatment sessions.
The treatment course lasts from 2 weeks to 1-2 months. In case of disease recurrence, the treatment course may be repeated 2-3 times a year.
Children
The safety and efficacy of the medication in children aged 0 to 18 years have not been established.

100 g of gel contains:
Active ingredient: troxerutin - 2.0000 g.
Excipients: disodium edetate - 0.0500 g; triethanolamine - 0.7000 g; carbomer - 0.6000 g; benzalkonium chloride - 0.0575 g; purified water up to 100.0000 g.

Homogeneous transparent gel from yellow to greenish-yellow in color, odorless.

• hypersensitivity to troxerutin or to the excipients of the preparation;
• violation of the integrity of the skin;
• pregnancy (first trimester);
• breastfeeding period;
• age under 18 years (clinical experience is insufficient).

The gel is applied only to intact skin. Avoid contact of the gel with open wounds, eyes, and mucous membranes! After applying the product, hands must be washed.

Patients with chronic venous insufficiency are recommended to use it in both early and late stages of the disease. In conditions characterized by increased vascular permeability (including scarlet fever, influenza, measles, allergic reactions), it is used in combination with ascorbic acid to enhance its effect.

Do not exceed the maximum duration and recommended doses when self-administering the product (see the section "Method of application and doses").

The medicinal product Troxerutin should be prescribed with caution in cases of renal insufficiency (prolonged use).

Excipients
The product Troxerutin contains benzalkonium chloride, which may cause skin reactions.

Allergic reactions may occur in rare cases (redness of the skin, itching, rash, eczema, dermatitis, urticaria). These symptoms resolve quickly after discontinuation of treatment.

Cases of overdose with local application have not been reported. In the event of accidental ingestion of the medication, burning sensations in the oral cavity, salivation, nausea, and vomiting may occur. In this case, rinsing of the oral cavity and stomach is indicated, and symptomatic treatment may be necessary.

Interaction studies have not been conducted.

Troxerutin is a derivative of rutin (a flavonoid) and possesses P-vitamin activity; it has venotonic, angioprotective, anti-edema, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. Troxerutin participates in redox processes, blocks hyaluronidase, stabilizes hyaluronic acid in cell membranes, and reduces the permeability and fragility of capillaries, increasing their tone. It increases the density of the vascular wall, reduces the exudation of the liquid part of plasma, and the diapedesis of blood cells. It decreases inflammation in the vascular wall by limiting the adhesion of platelets to its surface.

When applied to the skin, troxerutin quickly penetrates through the epidermis, is detected in the dermis after 30 minutes, and reaches subcutaneous adipose tissue within 2-5 hours. Systemic absorption is extremely low.
