Indications

Infectious-inflammatory diseases of the periodontium and mucous membrane of the oral cavity:

• acute and chronic gingivitis;

• acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis of Vincent;

• acute and chronic periodontitis; juvenile periodontitis;

• periodontosis complicated by gingivitis;

• aphthous stomatitis;

• cheilitis;

• inflammation of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity due to wearing dentures;

• post-extraction alveolitis (inflammation of the socket after tooth extraction);

• periodontitis, periodontal abscess (as part of combination therapy)

How to use

For local use only, for dental application.
In case of gum inflammation (gingivitis): Metrogyl Denta® is applied to the gum area in a thin layer using a finger or a cotton swab twice a day. After applying the gel, refrain from drinking and eating for 30 minutes. Rinsing the gel is not recommended. The duration of treatment is on average 7-10 days.
In case of periodontitis: after the removal of dental deposits, periodontal pockets are treated with Metrogyl Denta®, and the gel is applied to the gum area. Exposure time is 30 minutes. The number of procedures depends on the severity of the disease. Subsequently, the patient can perform gel applications independently. Metrogyl Denta® is applied to the gum area twice a day for 7-10 days.
In case of aphthous stomatitis: Metrogyl Denta® is applied to the affected area of the oral mucosa twice a day for 7-10 days.
For the prevention of exacerbations of chronic gingivitis and periodontitis: Metrogyl Denta® gel is applied to the gum area twice a day for 7-10 days. Preventive treatment courses are conducted 2-3 times a year.
For the prevention of post-extraction alveolitis: after tooth extraction, the socket is treated with Metrogyl Denta® gel, then the gel is applied 2-3 times a day for 7-10 days.

При воспалении Десен (гингивите): Метрогил Дента® наносится на область десен тонким слоем пальцем или при помощи ватной палочки 2 раза в день. После нанесения геля следует воздержаться от питья и приема пищи в течение 30 мин. Смывать гель не рекомендуется. Длительность курса лечения составляет в среднем 7-10 дней.
При пародонтите: после снятия зубных отложений, пародонтальные карманы обрабатываются гелем Метрогил Дента®, и производится аппликация геля на область десен. Время экспозиции 30 мин. Количество процедур зависит от тяжести заболевания. В дальнейшем аппликации геля больной может проводить самостоятельно. Метрогил Дента® наносится на область десен 2 раза в день в течение 7-10 дней.
При афтозном стоматите: Метрогил Дента® наносится на пораженную область слизистой оболочки полости рта 2 раза в день в течение 7-10 дней.
Для профилактики обострений хронического гингивита пародонтита: гель Метрогил Дента® наносится на область десен 2 раза в день в течение 7-10 дней. Профилактические курсы лечения проводятся 2-3 раза в год.
Для профилактики постэкстракционного альвеолита: после удаления зуба лунка обрабатывается гелем Метрогил Дента®, затем гель применяется 2-3 раза в день в течение 7-10 дней.

Composition

1 g of gel contains:
Active ingredients:
Metronidazole benzoate 16.0 mg (equivalent to metronidazole 10.0 mg)
Chlorhexidine digluconate 20% solution 2.5 mg (equivalent to chlorhexidine digluconate 0.5 mg)
Excipients: propylene glycol 50.0 mg, carbomer 980 15.0 mg, disodium edetate 0.5 mg, saccharin 1.0 mg, levomenthol 5.0 mg, sodium hydroxide 4.0 mg, water up to 1 g.

Opalescent soft gel of white or almost white color.

Contraindications & warnings

• Hypersensitivity to metronidazole, chlorhexidine, nitroimidazole derivatives, or other components of the product;

• Blood system diseases, including those in the medical history;

• Diseases of the peripheral and central nervous system;

• Age under 18 years.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
Due to the lack of clinical data, the safety of the product during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. The use of the product during pregnancy is not recommended. During breastfeeding, if the product is necessary, the issue of discontinuing breastfeeding should be considered.

The use of Metrogyl Denta® does not replace dental hygiene cleaning; therefore, during the course of treatment with the medication, tooth cleaning should be continued.
The product should be stored out of reach of children. In case of accidental or intentional ingestion of the product by a child, seek medical assistance immediately.
If the medication has expired or is no longer usable, do not dispose of it in wastewater or outdoors! Place the medication in a bag and throw it in the trash bin. These measures will help protect the environment!

Effects on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery:
There is no information on the effect of the medication on the ability to drive vehicles and engage in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased attention and quick psychomotor reactions.

• заболевания системы крови, в том числе в анамнезе;

• заболевания периферической и центральной нервной системы;

Применение при беременности и в период грудного вскармливания:
В связи с отсутствием клинических данных, безопасность применения препарата при беременности и в период грудного вскармливания не установлена. Не рекомендуется применение препарата в период беременности. В период грудного вскармливания при необходимости назначения препарата следует решить вопрос о прекращении грудного вскармливания.

Применение Метрогил дента® не заменяет гигиенической чистки зубов, поэтому во время курса лечения препаратом чистка зубов должна быть продолжена.
Препарат следует хранить в недоступном для детей месте. При случайном или преднамеренном проглатывании препарата ребенком следует немедленно обратиться за медицинской помощью.
Если лекарственное средство пришло в негодность или истек срок годности - не выбрасывайте его в сточные воды или на улицу! Поместите лекарственное средство в пакет и положите в мусорный контейнер. Эти меры помогут защитить окружающую среду!

Влияние на способность управлять транспортными средствами и другими механизмами:
Отсутствуют сведения о влиянии препарата на способность управлению транспортными средствами и занятию другими потенциально опасными видами деятельности, требующими повышенной концентрации внимания и быстроты психомоторных реакций.

Side effects, overdose & interactions

When applied locally, Metrogyl Denta® dental gel may cause allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, urticaria, anaphylactic reactions, including anaphylactic shock), as well as headache.

Accidental or intentional ingestion of a large amount of gel may lead to an exacerbation of side effects primarily associated with metronidazole (chlorhexidine is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract). The following may be observed: nausea, vomiting, dizziness; in more severe cases - paresthesia and seizures. Treatment: gastric lavage; if necessary, symptomatic therapy.

When used locally at the recommended doses, no systemic interactions of Metrogyl Denta® gel with other medications have been identified.

При местном применении препарата Метрогил Дента®, гель стоматологический, могут наблюдаться аллергические реакции (кожная сыпь, зуд, крапивница, анафилактические реакции, в том числе, анафилактический шок), а также головная боль.

Случайное или преднамеренное проглатывание большого количества геля может стать причиной усиления побочных эффектов, обусловленных в основном, метронидазолом (хлоргексидин практически не всасывается из желудочно-кишечного тракта). Могут наблюдаться: тошнота, рвота, головокружение, в более тяжелых случаях - парестезии и судороги. Лечение: промывание желудка, при необходимости симптоматическая терапия.

При местном применении в рекомендованных дозах системного взаимодействия геля Метрогил Дента® с другими лекарственными средствами не выявлено

Pharmacology

The effectiveness of the drug is due to the presence of two antibacterial components in its composition:
a) Metronidazole has antibacterial action against anaerobic bacteria that cause periodontal diseases: Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Fusobacterium fusiformis, Wolinella recta, Eikenella corrodens, Borrelia vincenti, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Selenomonas spp.
b) Chlorhexidine - an antiseptic and antimicrobial agent, is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria (Treponema spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas spp., Chlamydia spp., Ureaplasma spp., Bacteroides fragilis). Some strains of Pseudomonas spp., Proteus spp. are weakly sensitive to the drug, as well as acid-resistant forms of bacteria and bacterial spores. It does not disrupt the functional activity of lactobacilli.
When applied locally, Metrogyl Denta® gel is practically not absorbed.

Эффективность препарата обусловлена наличием в его составе двух антибактериальных компонентов:
а) метронидазол обладает антибактериальным действием против анаэробных бактерий, вызывающих заболевания пародонта: Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Fusobacterium fusiformis, Wolinellci recta, Eikenella corrodens, Borrelia vincenti, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Selenomonas spp.

При местном применении гель Метрогил Дента® практически не всасывается.

Metrogyl Denta - a gel for application on the gums that effectively combats inflammatory processes and gum bleeding. Its action is based on the active ingredient metronidazole, which has antimicrobial properties. The gel provides quick relief from pain and discomfort in the oral cavity. It is convenient to use, as it is easily applied to the surface of the gums and quickly absorbed, leaving no unpleasant taste or odor. Additionally, the gel helps strengthen the gums and prevent the development of periodontal diseases. The gel is applied to the gums 2-3 times a day after main meals.
