Diosmin 600 mg 30 coated tablets

• Varicose veins of the lower extremities (symptom relief);

• chronic lymphovenous insufficiency of the lower extremities (symptom relief);

• acute hemorrhoids (as part of combination therapy for symptom relief);

• microcirculation disorders (e.g., in idiopathic edema).

The medication is intended for oral use.

For varicose veins of the lower extremities and chronic lymphovenous insufficiency

The medication is taken at a dose of 1 tablet once daily in the morning on an empty stomach. The duration of therapy usually lasts 2 months. In severe cases of chronic lymphovenous insufficiency (edema, pain, cramps, etc.), treatment may be prolonged (the total duration of continuous therapy should not exceed three to four months). Treatment courses with Diosmin are repeated every 2-3 months.

For the treatment of chronic lymphovenous insufficiency during the II and III trimesters of pregnancy, the medication is taken at a dose of 1 tablet once daily. The duration of therapy should not exceed 30 days. It is necessary to discontinue the medication 2-3 weeks before delivery.

In case of exacerbation of hemorrhoids

The medication is taken at a dose of 2-3 tablets daily with meals for 7 days. Thereafter, if necessary, the medication can be continued at a dose of 1 tablet once daily for 1-2 months.

For microcirculation disorders

The medication is taken at a dose of 1 tablet once daily in the morning on an empty stomach. The duration of therapy usually lasts 1-2 months.

If one or more doses of the medication are missed, continue taking the medication as usual and at the usual dose.

Composition per 1 tablet:
Active ingredient: Diosmin, calculated as anhydrous substance - 600.000 mg.
Excipients: Gelatin - 50.000 mg; Sodium carboxymethyl starch (Type A) - 19.400 mg; Magnesium stearate - 9.700 mg; Microcrystalline cellulose - up to 970.000 mg.
Coating composition: Opadry II 85F240012 Pink - 30.000 mg: Polyvinyl alcohol - 12.000 mg; Macrogol-3350 - 7.314 mg; Iron oxide red dye - 0.120 mg; Iron oxide yellow dye - 0.066 mg; Talc - 4.440 mg; Titanium dioxide - 6.060 mg.

Capsule-shaped, biconvex tablets with a score on one side, coated with a film shell from light pink to pink in color. In cross-section - the core of the tablet is from gray-yellow to gray-brown in color, with specks of lighter and darker shades allowed.

• Increased sensitivity to the components of the drug;

• Children under 18 years of age (experience of use is limited);

• Pregnancy (first trimester) and breastfeeding period (experience of use is limited).

Pregnancy and lactation:
Experience with the drug in pregnant women is limited. No adverse reactions have been reported in clinical practice with the use of diosmin in pregnant women. Experimental studies have not shown any teratogenic effects of diosmin on the course of pregnancy, embryofetal, and postnatal development. However, for safety reasons, the use of the drug in the first trimester of pregnancy is contraindicated. If the drug is needed during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, it is recommended to consult a doctor beforehand.

During breastfeeding, the use of the drug is not recommended, as there is no data on the penetration of diosmin into breast milk.

The treatment of acute hemorrhoids is conducted in conjunction with other medications. If there is no rapid clinical effect, it is recommended to consult a proctologist, and if necessary, conduct additional examinations and adjust the ongoing therapy.

In cases of venous circulation disorders (varicose veins of the lower extremities, chronic lymphovenous insufficiency of the lower extremities), the maximum effect of treatment is achieved by combining therapy with lifestyle changes: it is advisable to avoid prolonged standing,

reduce excess body weight. In some cases, wearing special stockings (compression garments) may help improve blood circulation.

Experience with the use of diosmin in children under 18 years is insufficient.

The frequency of side effects is defined according to the WHO classification of adverse drug reactions by occurrence: very common - more than 1/10; common - more than 1/100 and less than 1/10; uncommon - more than 1/1000 and less than 1/100; rare - more than 1/10000 and less than 1/1000; very rare - less than 1/10000, including isolated cases; unknown frequency (it is impossible to determine the frequency of occurrence of the adverse reaction based on available data).

Gastrointestinal side effects: common - nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspeptic disorders, heartburn, constipation; uncommon - colitis.

Central nervous system side effects: rare - headache, dizziness.

Skin and subcutaneous tissue side effects: rare - skin rashes, pruritus;

Allergic reactions: rare - urticaria, unknown frequency - isolated swelling of the face, lips, eyelids; in exceptional cases - angioedema (Quincke's edema).

General disorders: rare - malaise.

Overdose cases have not been reported. Given the wide therapeutic range of diosmin, the risk of intoxication in case of overdose appears to be minimal. A specific antidote is unknown.

Clinically significant interactions of diosmin with other medications have not been described.

Diosmin belongs to the group of bioflavonoids and has phlebotonic properties (reduces venous distensibility, increases venous tone (dose-dependent effect), decreases venous stasis), improves lymphatic drainage (increases the tone and contraction frequency of lymphatic capillaries, increases their functional density, reduces lymphatic pressure), enhances microcirculation (increases capillary resistance (dose-dependent effect), decreases their permeability), reduces leukocyte adhesion to the venous wall and their migration to perivenous tissues, improves oxygen diffusion and perfusion in skin tissue, and has anti-inflammatory effects.

It enhances the vasoconstrictive action of adrenaline and noradrenaline, blocks the production of free radicals, and the synthesis of prostaglandins and thromboxane.

Diosmin is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It is detected in the plasma within 2 hours after administration. The bioavailability of the drug after oral intake is approximately 40-57.9%. A portion of the drug is metabolized by bacteria in the cecum, resulting in the formation of hippuric and benzoic acids.

The maximum concentration in the plasma is reached 5 hours after administration. The drug accumulates in all layers of the walls of hollow veins and subcutaneous veins of the lower extremities, to a lesser extent in the kidneys, liver, lungs, and other tissues. The volume of distribution of the drug is 62.1 L. Maximum selective accumulation of diosmin and/or its metabolites in the walls of venous vessels is observed 9 hours after administration and persists for 96 hours.

Diosmin is rapidly metabolized in the liver. The main metabolite is hydroxyphenylpropionic acid. The metabolites of diosmin are primarily excreted by the kidneys in the form of conjugates with glucuronic acid. 79% of the administered diosmin is excreted by the kidneys, 11% by the intestines, and 2.4% with bile. Enterohepatic circulation of the drug is noted. After administration of diosmin labeled with a radioactive isotope, approximately 86% of the drug is excreted by the kidneys and intestines within 48 hours.
