Use during pregnancy and lactation
The use of the drug is not recommended during pregnancy. Use during breastfeeding is possible if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the child. Consultation with a doctor is necessary.

Light and ambient temperature and body temperature above 40 °C accelerate the decomposition of active iodine. The preparation should have a dark brown color. Discoloration of the solution indicates the breakdown of the complex with the transition of active iodine to iodide ion and a decrease in the effectiveness of the preparation.
Alkaline or acidic environments, the presence of fat, pus, or blood weaken antiseptic activity.
The use of the preparation according to the instructions for medical use does not negatively affect the performance of hazardous activities that require special attention and quick reactions. Avoid contact with eyes.

Применение при беременности и в период лактации
Не рекомендуется применение препарата при беременности. Применение в период грудного вскармливания возможно, если ожидаемая польза для матери превышает потенциальный риск для ребенка. Необходимо проконсультироваться с врачом.

Свет и температура окружающей среды и тела выше 40 °С ускоряют распад активного йода. Препарат должен иметь темно-коричневую окраску. Обесцвечивание раствора свидетельствует о разрушении комплекса с переходом активного йода в йодид-ион и снижении эффективности препарата.
Щелочная или кислая среда, присутствие жира, гноя, крови ослабляют антисептическую активность.
Применение препарата согласно инструкции по медицинскому применению не оказывает отрицательного влияния на выполнение опасных видов деятельности, требующих особого внимания и быстрых реакций. Следует избегать попадания в глаза.

Side effects, overdose & interactions

Skin irritation, allergic reactions (skin itching); with prolonged use on extensive wound surfaces - iodism (rhinitis, urticaria, Quincke's edema, increased salivation, tearing, acne rash).

In case of overdose, symptoms of iodism, skin irritation, and burns may occur.
Treatment: symptomatic; rinse excess medication with clean running water.

Pharmaceutically incompatible with essential oils, ammonia solutions, enzymes, reducing agents and alkalis, disinfectant medications containing mercury; forms an explosive mixture with white precipitated mercury (mercury amidochloride).

Раздражение кожи, аллергические реакции (кожный зуд), при длительном применении на обширных раневых поверхностях - йодизм (ринит, крапивница, отек Квинке, повышенное слюнотечение, слезотечение, угревая сыпь).

При передозировке возможны явления йодизма, раздражение и ожоги кожи.
Лечение: симптоматическое; смыть избыток препарата чистой проточной водой.

Фармацевтически несовместим с эфирными маслами, растворами аммиака, ферментами, восстановителями и щелочами, дезинфицирующими лекарственными средствами, содержащими ртуть; с белой осадочной ртутью (ртути амидохлоридом) образуется взрывчатая смесь.

Pharmacology

Antiseptic agent. The main active ingredient is molecular iodine, which possesses antiseptic properties. When applied to extensive skin surfaces, iodine exerts a resorptive effect: it participates in the synthesis of thyroxine and triiodothyronine. Ethanol slows down the elimination of iodine and reduces its irritating effect on tissues.

It has a bactericidal effect on both gram-positive and gram-negative flora (most active against Streptococcus spp. and Escherichia coli), as well as on pathogenic fungi and yeasts. Most strains of Staphylococcus spp. are resistant; however, with prolonged use of the product, suppression of staphylococcal flora is observed in 80% of cases. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is resistant.

Upon contact with the skin, 30% is converted into iodides, while the remaining portion is converted into active iodine. It is partially absorbed. The absorbed portion penetrates tissues and organs, being selectively taken up by the thyroid gland. It is excreted primarily by the kidneys, as well as by the intestines, sweat glands, and in breast milk during lactation.

Антисептическое средство. Основным действующим веществом является молекулярный йод, обладающий антисептическим свойством. При нанесении на обширные поверхности кожи йод оказывает резорбтивное действие: участвует в синтезе тироксина и трийодтиронина.
Этанол замедляет выведение йода и уменьшает его раздражающее действие на ткани.
Оказывает бактерицидное действие как на грамположительную, так и на грамотрицательную флору (активнее всего - на Streptococcus spp. и Escherichia coli), а также на патогенные грибы и дрожжи. Большинство штаммов Staphylococcus spp. устойчивы, однако при длительном применении препарата в 80 % случаев отмечается подавление стафилококковой флоры. Pseudomonas aeruginosa устойчива.

При контакте с кожей на 30 % превращается в йодиды, а остальная часть - в активный йод. Частично всасывается. Абсорбированная часть проникает в ткани и органы, селективно поглощается щитовидной железой. Выводится почками (главным образом), кишечником, потовыми железами, с грудным молоком в период лактации.
