Tetracycline 1% eye ointment 3 g

Bacterial (including chlamydial) eye infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to tetracycline - blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, meibomitis (stye), trachoma.

Topical use.
A strip of ointment from 0.5 to 1 cm is placed behind the lower eyelid:

• blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis: 3-4 times a day for 5-7 days;

• keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis: 2-3 times a day for 5-7 days. If there is no improvement within the first 3-5 days of treatment, consult a doctor;

• meibomitis (stye): at night until symptoms of inflammation disappear;

• trachoma: every 2-4 hours or more frequently for 1-2 weeks. Once the inflammatory process subsides, the medication is used 2-3 times a day. The duration of trachoma treatment should not exceed 1-2 months.

In 1 g of the ointment, there are:
Active ingredient: tetracycline, calculated as dry substance and activity 1000 mcg/mg - 0.01 g.
Excipients: anhydrous lanolin, petroleum jelly.

Ointment of yellow to yellow-brown color

• Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;

• Impaired liver and kidney function;

• Pregnancy;

• Breastfeeding period;

• Children under 8 years of age.

Allergic reactions, hyperemia and swelling of the eyelids, transient blurred vision

Bacteriostatic antibiotic from the tetracycline group. Disrupts the formation of the complex between transfer RNA and the ribosome, leading to the suppression of protein synthesis in the microbial cell.
Active against gram-positive organisms (Staphylococcus spp., including Staphylococcus aureus, including penicillinase-producing strains, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae (Diplococcus pneumoniae), Bacillus anthracis, Listeria spp.); gram-negative microorganisms (Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus ducreyi, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Bordetella pertussis, Enterobacter spp., Francisella tularensis (Pasteurella pestis), Salmonella spp., Shigella spp.); intracellular and other microorganisms (Chlamydia trachomatis, Chlamydia spp., Mycoplasma spp., Rickettsia spp., Treponema spp.).
Microorganisms resistant to tetracycline include: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus spp., Serratia spp., most strains of Bacteroides spp., and fungi, viruses, beta-hemolytic streptococci group A (including 44% of strains of Streptococcus pyogenes and 74% of strains of Streptococcus faecalis).

When applied locally, a therapeutic concentration of tetracycline is achieved in the eye tissues, with low systemic absorption. In cases of corneal epithelium damage, an effective concentration of tetracycline in the aqueous humor is reached 30 minutes after application.

Tetracycline-1 - eye ointment 3 g is a medication for the treatment of infectious and inflammatory eye diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to tetracycline. The ointment contains 1% tetracycline - an antibiotic from the tetracycline group of antibacterial agents, which has a bacteriostatic effect, i.e., it inhibits the growth and reproduction of bacteria, leading to their death. The medication is prescribed for the treatment of conditions such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratitis, meibomitis, chalazion, and others.

To apply the ointment, it is necessary to wash your hands, open the tube, and apply a thin layer of ointment to the upper and lower eyelid pockets of the affected eye. This procedure should be repeated several times a day. Consultation with a doctor is required before use.

Store for no more than 6 weeks after first opening the package.
