Indications

Bacterial (including chlamydial) eye infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to tetracycline - blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, meibomitis (stye), trachoma.

Бактериальные (в т.ч. хламидийные) глазные инфекции, вызванные чувствительными к тетрациклину микроорганизмами - блефарит, блефароконъюнктивит, кератит, кератоконъюнктивит, мейбомит (ячмень), трахома.

How to use

Topically. A strip of ointment from 0.5 to 1 cm is placed behind the lower eyelid:
- blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis: 3-4 times a day for 5-7 days;
- keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis: 2-3 times a day for 5-7 days. If there is no improvement within the first 3-5 days of treatment, consult a doctor;
- meibomitis (stye): at night until symptoms of inflammation disappear;
- trachoma: every 2-4 hours or more frequently for 1-2 weeks. Once the inflammatory process subsides, the medication is used 2-3 times a day. The duration of trachoma treatment should not exceed 1-2 months.

Местно. Полоску мази от 0,5 до 1 см закладывают за нижнее веко: - блефарит, блефароконъюнктивит: 3-4 раза в день в течение 5-7 дней; - кератит, кератоконъюнктивит: 2-3 раза в день в течение 5-7 дней. Если в течение первых 3-5 дней лечения состояние не улучшается, то следует проконсультироваться с врачом; - мейбомит (ячмень): на ночь до исчезновения симптомов воспаления; - трахома: каждые 2-4 ч или чаще в течение 1-2 недель. При стихании воспалительного процесса препарат применяют 2-3 раза в день. Длительность курса лечения трахомы не должна превышать 1-2 месяца.

Composition

In 1 g of the ointment, there are:
Active ingredient: tetracycline, calculated as dry substance and activity 1000 mcg/mg - 0.01 g.
Excipients: anhydrous lanolin, petroleum jelly.

Ointment of yellow to yellow-brown color.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
The use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding is contraindicated.

Patients who experience temporary blurred vision after application should not drive vehicles or engage in activities requiring increased attention until vision is restored. If the condition does not improve within a few days, a consultation with a physician is recommended.

Pharmacology

Bacteriostatic antibiotic from the tetracycline group. Disrupts the formation of the complex between transfer RNA and the ribosome, leading to the suppression of protein synthesis in the microbial cell. Active against gram-positive organisms (Staphylococcus spp., including Staphylococcus aureus, including strains producing penicillinase, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae (Diplococcus pneumoniae), Bacillus anthracis, Listeria spp.); gram-negative microorganisms (Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus ducreyi, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Bordetella pertussis, Enterobacter spp., Francisella tularensis (Pasteurella pestis), Salmonella spp., Shigella spp.); intracellular and other microorganisms (Chlamydia trachomatis, Chlamydia spp., Mycoplasma spp., Rickettsia spp., Treponema spp.). Microorganisms resistant to tetracycline include: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus spp., Serratia spp., most strains of Bacteroides spp., and fungi, viruses, beta-hemolytic streptococci group A (including 44% of strains of Streptococcus pyogenes and 74% of strains of Streptococcus faecalis).

When applied locally, therapeutic concentrations of tetracycline are achieved in the eye tissues, with low systemic absorption. In cases of corneal epithelium damage, effective concentrations of tetracycline in the aqueous humor are reached 30 minutes after application.
