Indications

Acute and chronic respiratory tract diseases accompanied by cough with the production of viscous sputum that is difficult to expectorate (including tracheobronchitis, obstructive bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchiectasis) - as part of combination therapy.

How to use

Orally, before meals.
Adults and children aged 12 years and older: 50-100 mg (1-2 tablets) 2-3 times a day, taken with water. For children, the single dose of the medication (1-2 tablets) can be dissolved in 1/3 cup of warm water before use. The average treatment course lasts 7-14 days.
If no improvement occurs during treatment, or if symptoms worsen, or new symptoms appear, it is necessary to consult a doctor. Use the medication only according to the indications, method of administration, and dosages specified in the instructions.

Внутрь, до еды.
Взрослым и детям с 12 лет по 50-100 мг (1-2 таблетки) 2-3 раза в день, запивая водой. Детям перед применением можно растворить разовую дозу препарата (1-2 таблетки) в 1/3 стакана теплой воды. Курс лечения в среднем составляет 7-14 дней.
Если в период лечения улучшения не наступает или симптомы усугубляются, или появляются новые симптомы, необходимо проконсультироваться с врачом. Применяйте препарат только согласно тем показаниям, тому способу применения и в тех дозах, которые указаны в инструкции.

Composition

1 tablet contains:
Active ingredient: marshmallow root extract (dry mucaltin extract) - 50.0 mg.
Excipients: tartaric acid - 157.0 mg; sodium bicarbonate - 85.0 mg; povidone-K25 - 5.0 mg; calcium stearate - 3.0 mg.

Round flat-cylindrical tablets from light gray to brownish-gray in color with specks of lighter or darker shades, with a characteristic odor, with a bevel and a score line.

Contraindications & warnings

• hypersensitivity to dry extract of marshmallow root (mucaltin) or to other components of the product;
• peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum;
• age under 12 years (due to insufficient data on efficacy and safety in this age group);
• glucose-galactose malabsorption.

Mucaltin should not be used simultaneously with medications containing codeine and other antitussive drugs (see the section "Interaction with other medications").
Excipients
Mucaltin contains 23.27 mg of sodium per 50 mg (1 tablet) of the product. This should be taken into account for patients on a sodium-restricted diet.

• глюкозо-галактозная мальабсорбция.

Препарат Мукалтин не следует применять одновременно с препаратами, содержащими кодеин и другие противокашлевые лекарственные средства (см. раздел «Взаимодействие с другими лекарственными средствами»).
Вспомогательные вещества
Препарат Мукалтин содержит 23,27 мг натрия на 50 мг (1 таблетку) препарата. Необходимо учитывать пациентам, находящимся на диете с ограничением поступления натрия.

Side effects, overdose & interactions

Allergic reactions are possible. Rarely - dyspeptic phenomena (nausea).
If you experience side effects listed in the instructions, or if they worsen, or if you notice any other side effects not mentioned in the instructions, inform your doctor.

To date, there have been no reported cases of overdose associated with the use of the medication.

Mucaltin can be prescribed simultaneously with other medications used in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases.
Mucaltin should not be used simultaneously with medications containing codeine and other antitussive drugs, as this complicates the expectoration of liquefied mucus.

Pharmacology

Mucaltin dry extract is a mixture of polysaccharides from the herb Althaea officinalis, possessing expectorant properties. Due to reflex stimulation, it enhances the activity of ciliated epithelium and the peristalsis of respiratory bronchioles, combined with increased secretion of bronchial glands.
