How to use

The preparation is instilled into the conjunctival sac, 1–2 drops 2–3 times a day. The duration of the treatment course depends on the course of the disease (usually 3–30 days) and is determined by the physician. If indicated and well-tolerated, the treatment course may be extended up to 6 months or repeated 2–3 times a year.

Instructions for using the dropper cap
1. Remove the aluminum cap and rubber stopper from the bottle using scissors, or the aluminum cap with a flip-off plastic lid, or a combined cap, first removing the plastic lid and then the aluminum cap along with the rubber stopper using scissors.
2. Place the polyethylene dropper cap, which is included with the bottle, onto the bottle after removing its packaging.
3. Turn the bottle upside down and instill the drops by pressing on the body of the dropper cap.
4. Close the dropper cap with the small cap by tearing the membranes at the bottom of the dropper cap.

Препарат закапывают в конъюнктивальный мешок по 1–2 капли 2–3 раза в день. Продолжительность курса лечения зависит от течения заболевания (обычно составляет 3–30 дней) и определяется врачом. При наличии показаний и хорошей переносимости препарата курс лечения может быть продолжен до 6 месяцев или повторяться 2–3 раза в год.

Инструкция по применению крышки-капельницы
1. Снять с флакона алюминиевый колпачок и резиновую пробку, используя ножницы, или алюминиевый колпачок с пластиковой крышкой типа «флип-офф», или комбинированный колпачок, при этом сначала удалить пластиковую крышку, а затем – алюминиевый колпачок вместе с резиновой пробкой, используя ножницы.
2. Надеть на флакон полиэтиленовую крышку-капельницу, которая прилагается к флакону, предварительно сняв с нее упаковку.
3. Перевернуть флакон вверх дном и закапать капли, нажав на корпус крышки-капельницы.
4. Закрыть крышку-капельницу маленьким колпачком, надорвав перепонки в нижней части крышки-капельницы.

Composition

1 ml contains:
Active ingredient: methyl ethyl pyridinol hydrochloride – 10.0 mg.
Excipients: sodium sulfite – 3.0 mg; sodium benzoate (E 211) – 2.0 mg; potassium dihydrogen phosphate – 5.4 mg; disodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate – 6.5 mg; methylcellulose – 6.5 mg; water for injections up to 1.0 ml.

Transparent or slightly opalescent colorless or lightly colored liquid.

Contraindications & warnings

Hypersensitivity to methyl ethyl pyridinol or to any of the excipients; pregnancy and breastfeeding; age under 18 years.

If simultaneous use of other eye drops is necessary, this medication should be instilled last, after complete absorption of the previous medication (not earlier than 15 minutes).
Upon shaking, it forms foam on the surface due to the presence of methylcellulose. Unintentional shaking may occur during the transportation of the medication. Foam formation does not affect the quality of the medication; the foam disappears after a short time.

Гиперчувствительность к метилэтилпиридинолу или к любому из вспомогательных веществ, беременность и период грудного вскармливания, детский возраст до 18 лет.

При необходимости одновременного применения других глазных капель, препарат закапывают последним, после полного всасывания предыдущего лекарственного средства (не ранее, чем через 15 минут).
При встряхивании образует на поверхности пену из-за наличия в составе метилцеллюлозы. Непроизвольное встряхивание может произойти при транспортировке препарата. Пенообразование не влияет на качество препарата, пена исчезает через непродолжительное время.

Side effects, overdose & interactions

Burning sensation, itching, transient hyperemia of the conjunctiva, local allergic reactions. The sodium sulfite included in the formulation may, in rare cases, cause severe hypersensitivity reactions and bronchospasm.
If any of the side effects listed in the instructions worsen or you notice any other side effects not mentioned in the instructions, inform your doctor.

No cases of overdose of the drug have been reported.

The drug should not be mixed with other medications.

Ощущение жжения, зуд, кратковременная гиперемия конъюнктивы, местные аллергические реакции. Входящий в состав препарата натрия сульфит способен в редких случаях вызывать тяжелые реакции гиперчувствительности и бронхоспазм.
Если любые из указанных в инструкции побочных эффектов усугубляются или Вы заметили любые другие побочные эффекты, не указанные в инструкции, сообщите об этом врачу.

Случаи передозировки препарата не описаны.

Препарат не следует смешивать с другими лекарственными средствами.

Pharmacology

Mechanism of Action
Antioxidant (a medicinal agent that prevents the peroxidation of cellular membrane lipids), possessing angioprotective (increasing vascular resistance), anti-aggregatory (preventing platelet aggregation), and anti-hypoxic (enhancing tissue resistance to oxygen deficiency) activity.

Pharmacodynamic Effects
Reduces capillary permeability and strengthens the vascular wall (angioprotector). Decreases blood viscosity and platelet aggregation (anti-aggregant). Inhibitor of free radical processes, has membrane-stabilizing effects. Exhibits retinoprotective properties, protecting the retina and other eye tissues from the damaging effects of high-intensity light. Promotes the resorption of intraocular hemorrhages, reduces blood coagulation, and improves ocular microcirculation. Stimulates reparative processes in the cornea (including in the early postoperative and post-traumatic periods).

Rapidly penetrates organs and tissues, where deposition and metabolism occur. Concentration in ocular tissues is higher than in blood. Five metabolites have been identified, consisting of dealkylated and conjugated transformation products. Metabolites are excreted by the kidneys. 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-oxypyridine phosphate is found in significant amounts in the liver.

Фармакодинамические эффекты
Уменьшает проницаемость капилляров и укрепляет сосудистую стенку (ангиопротектор). Уменьшает вязкость крови и агрегацию тромбоцитов (антиагрегант). Ингибитор свободнорадикальных процессов, обладает мембраностабилизирующим действием. Обладает ретинопротекторными свойствами, защищает сетчатку и другие ткани глаза от повреждающего действия света высокой интенсивности. Способствует рассасыванию внутриглазных кровоизлияний, снижает свертываемость крови, улучшает микроциркуляцию глаза. Стимулирует репаративные процессы в роговице (в т.ч. в раннем послеоперационном и постраневом периоде).

Быстро проникает в органы и ткани, где происходит его депонирование и метаболизм. В тканях глаза концентрация выше, чем в крови. Обнаружено 5 метаболитов, представленных деалкилированными и конъюгированными продуктами превращения. Метаболиты экскретируются почками. В значительных количествах в печени обнаруживается 2-этил-6-метил-3-оксипиридин-фосфат.
