Acute bacterial diarrhea occurring without deterioration of general condition, fever, or intoxication.

How to use

Orally. A double-sided measuring spoon is used for dosing, with a volume of 2.5 ml on one side and 5 ml on the other side. Before use, the suspension must be shaken well.
Children aged 1–6 months: 2.5 ml 2 or 3 times a day (interval between doses 8–12 hours).
Children aged 6 months to 3 years: 2.5 ml 3 times a day (interval between doses 8 hours).
Children aged 3 to 6 years: 5 ml 3 times a day (interval between doses 8 hours).
Children aged 6 to 18 years: 5 ml 3–4 times a day (interval between doses 6–8 hours).
Adults: 5 ml 4 times a day (interval between doses 6 hours).
The duration of treatment is 5–7 days, but no more than 7 days. If no improvement occurs within the first three days, a doctor should be consulted. The medication should be used according to the method of administration and in the doses specified in the instructions. If necessary, consult a doctor before using the medication.

Внутрь. Для дозирования используется двусторонняя мерная ложка, объемом 2,5 мл с одной стороны и 5 мл с другой стороны. Перед употреблением суспензию необходимо хорошо встряхнуть.
Детям в возрасте 1–6 месяцев: 2,5 мл 2 или 3 раза в сутки (интервал между приемами 8–12 часов).

active ingredient: nifuroxazide (calculated as 100% substance) – 200.00 mg;
excipients: maltitol – 350.00 mg, lactitol – 300.00 mg, banana flavor – 10.00 mg, carbomer – 5.50 mg, methylparaben – 5.00 mg, sodium hydroxide – 1.20 mg, anhydrous citric acid – 0.75 mg, purified water – to obtain a suspension volume of 5.0 ml.

Contraindications & warnings

• hypersensitivity to nifuroxazide, to nitrofuran derivatives, other components of the drug,
• pregnancy,
• neonatal period (up to 1 month), prematurity.

With caution
• liver diseases,
• alcoholism,
• traumatic brain injury,
• brain diseases,
• lactation period,
• pediatric age (over 1 month).

When treating diarrhea, rehydration therapy should be conducted simultaneously with nifuroxazide therapy. Treatment of diarrhea in children under 3 years of age should be carried out under medical supervision. In cases of bacterial diarrhea with signs of systemic involvement (deterioration of general condition, fever, symptoms of intoxication or infection), a doctor should be consulted regarding the use of systemic antibacterial agents.
If symptoms of hypersensitivity reaction occur (skin rash and itching, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath), the use of the medication should be discontinued.
Due to the presence of methylparaben, the medication may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
Alcohol consumption during nifuroxazide therapy is prohibited.

В случае бактериальной диареи с признаками системного поражения (ухудшение общего состояния, повышение температуры тела, симптомы интоксикации или инфекции) следует обратиться к врачу для решения вопроса о применении антибактериальных препаратов системного действия.
При появлении симптомов реакции гиперчувствительности (кожная сыпь и зуд, затруднение дыхания, одышка) следует прекратить прием препарата.
В связи с содержанием метилпарагидроксибензоата препарат может вызывать аллергические реакции (возможно, отсроченные).
Употребление алкоголя во время терапии нифуроксазидом запрещено.

Allergic reactions (skin rash, urticaria, Quincke's edema, anaphylactic shock). If any of the side effects listed in the instructions worsen, or if you notice any other side effects not mentioned in the instructions, inform your doctor.

Symptomatic treatment

Concurrent use with medications that cause disulfiram-like reactions or depress the central nervous system is not recommended. If you are taking other medications (including over-the-counter ones), consult your doctor before using nifuroxazide.

Pharmacology

Nifuroxazide is an antimicrobial agent, a derivative of nitrofuran. It blocks the activity of dehydrogenases and inhibits respiratory chains, the tricarboxylic acid cycle, and a number of other biochemical processes in the microbial cell. It disrupts the microbial cell membrane and reduces the production of toxins by microorganisms. Nifuroxazide exerts its antibacterial action exclusively in the intestinal lumen. It is highly active against Campylobacter jejuni, Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Clostridium perfringens, Vibrio cholerae, pathogenic Vibrions, and Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Staphylococcus spp.

Weakly sensitive to nifuroxazide: Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter cloacae, and Proteus indologenes. Resistant to nifuroxazide: Klebsiella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Providencia spp., Pseudomonas spp.

It does not disrupt the balance of intestinal microflora. In cases of acute bacterial diarrhea, it restores intestinal eubiosis. In infections caused by enterotropic viruses, it prevents the development of bacterial superinfection.

After oral administration, nifuroxazide is partially absorbed (10–20%) from the gastrointestinal tract and is significantly metabolized. The majority of the active substance circulates in the blood in the form of metabolites. Nifuroxazide is excreted by the intestines: 20% in unchanged form, while the remaining amount of nifuroxazide is chemically altered.

Блокирует активность дегидрогеназ и угнетает дыхательные цепи, цикл трикарбоновых кислот и ряд других биохимических процессов в микробной клетке.
